Louisa Van Leer Architecture

I engaged Louisa to design a from-scratch ADU in Highland Park and could not be happier with the result. Permitting: She was able to secure the maximum ADU sf under state law as well as leverage her strong working relationship with the local HPOZ to design a spacious and beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bathroom single level 1200 sf house of superior architectural appeal. Design: Located on a challenging lot, the exterior design incorporates jaw-dropping exterior wood trellises with cedar paneling on the front, with carefully thought-out interior floor, window and machinery plans. Construction: She recommended a skilled contractor who kept to budget and schedule and coordinated the high quality completion of myriad items throughout the process. Interior Design: She worked patiently and helpfully with me, a design novice, to help me formulate and improve on my vision for the various rooms. I give her the highest recommendation. I live in the house now and will always remember our working experience fondly.

Louisa Van Leer Architecture We have a historic home that is over 100 years old. We wanted to bring back its original character while incorporating modern conveniences. After talking to several architects Louisa was the only one who “got it”. It was apparent that she had a lot of experience in restoring older houses back to their original charm. Her architectural plans suited us perfectly, and she worked with our tight, but realistic, budget. In addition to the regular city permits, Louisa guided us through the permitting required for the HPOZ (Historic Preservation Overlay Zone). Louisa and her team assisted us in interviewing contractors which made the process much less stressful. I felt very comfortable working with Louisa guiding us through this undertaking and I would strongly recommend her.
